I received the materials for the Client Engagement System several weeks ago. I have reviewed all of the information and I was impressed with how you had set up the interview and the strategic questions. With this being said, though I liked the materials, I was skeptical on the use of the materials for my practice.

Yesterday I had an appointment with a small business owner with 5 children. Before the meeting I determined that I would use your system to see how it worked. Honestly, I was nervous, because your approach is so different than mine.

I basically used just the intake form sample which I received an hour prior to a meeting with a prospective new client, a 90-year old widow.   Elderly clients usually tire easily so consultations need to be less time consuming that with younger clients.   I used the intake form as the basis of my interview along with many of the phrases from the materials on the CD for the Client sample interview.

At the end of the hour the woman hired me to re-write her entire estate plan, arrange for the sale of her condo and her move into an assisted living facility and wrote me a check for $10,000.00 without any questions or discussions. Since then I have used Alexis' family centered approach selling value rather than product and found prospective clients much less resistant to hiring me.

I've been reading through your materials and listening to these calls and last week I had a meeting with a new client and I must admit that I was kind of cramming at the last minute.  I had read the 11 Things You Should Say to Every Client and I had pretty much read all of your other materials.

Probably the worst mistake I ever made in my life was taking a golf lesson immediately before going out and playing a game.  It was the first game of golf in my life and so I had that same fear, so I just kind of read it through and said, "Look I am not going to try and remember every point.  I am just going to sort of try and have them in the back of my mind." I was able to bring out some of those points, and I must say it was probably the single most successful meeting I've ever had with clients.  At the end of the meeting they were saying things like, "We really loved filling out the Estate Planning questionnaire.", "We are really thankful that you have taken us through this process.", "This is the best thing we've ever done."

I have to tell you I've been doing this for thirty years and I've never had anyone say that. So I am very optimistic about what you are teaching us here. I find it extremely valuable.

The Monday meeting went well.   I did use a lot of the script (tweaked slightly for my style), and we followed the order in your agenda.   When I asked the couple whether we should "get started," the wife's answer was "I don't see why not."  Perfect.   They left a check before leaving my office.   

I also listened to the CD for the first time today as I headed down to a meeting in Monterey.   The Sacramento legal market and my "levels of planning" are a bit different than yours, but many of the concepts are translating well.   I have learned a lot from you so far.

I have been doing this for 27 years.   I wish that I had something like this when I was starting out.   I would have made a lot more money and probably would have had clients that were more satisfied.   My partner, a criminal lawyer, has listened to the marketing CD's (4 of them) and also thinks that they have given him a lot of new ideas.
